Nivalis Nights Quests: Side Quest List and What Each Unlocks
How quests work
- No time limits. Ignore the quest list for days if you want; nothing expires. Hold J to hide it.
- Conversations can fail quests. Before talking to a quest character, check the People tab in your journal for what they like and what you said last time. Saving before a key conversation is the safe option.
- The compass at the top of the screen points to the next quest step, and the map shows which district to go to.
- Rewards: recipes, business permits for new venues, money, relationship changes and achievements.
Quests worth doing first
| Quest | Reward | Why early |
|---|---|---|
| Noodle Bar Introduction | Tutorial; Ramen Noir running | Mandatory start (77.7% done) |
| Clem’s greenhouse quest | Opens your first greenhouse | Farming is the best long-term margin |
| Dotson’s Detective Agency | Stealing raises curfew alert by 5% per object instead of 10% | Doubles what you can take per night |
| The shady-landlord quest | 15,000 to 40,000 lims if you clear the landlord’s own apartment (less the other way) | Pays off a big chunk of the debt |
| Venue-level permit quests | A business permit for the next tier of venue | Needed to lease venue two (16% of players have) |

Quests people search for by name
Players search for these quest and objective names. Where we can confirm the steps, we note them; the rest are listed so you know they exist.
- Fishing treasures (“fish for the first treasure”, “find the second treasure”): fishing at marked treasure spots. Some players call treasure fishing the fastest early money.
- The neon setup: Murti, the neon vendor in Meridian Market, trades gossip for customers. One player’s quest marker for a neon job pointed to the Docks and on to the Oil Rig.
- The Coffee Run: deliveries for Coffee PoccoCup (three runs for the achievement). A Steam community guide covers which coffee to deliver.
- Snapshot / take a photo: some quests ask you to photograph something. Photo mode has filter, focus distance, aperture and grain controls.
- Thaddeus Retirement, step 3 (Harbor Overlook): Thaddeus is at the Docks next to the pier where Ady fishes. Climb onto the roof of the building to his left. Several Reddit players confirmed finding him there.
- Movers and Shakers: a curfew job against Nola Berg’s venue. Wait for curfew at Seaside Boardwalk; the marker appears on screen. Her place is called Sanctuary. You do not need to steal anything: interact with the fan or vent up near the roof.
- Oil Rig quests: go by boat, straight out to sea from the Docks. Salty Pete gives boat work.
- Drop Dead Rat, The Critic, Cast Iron Alibi, The Shipping Forecast: searched by name; steps not yet confirmed here.
Story choices
The developers’ FAQ: the main storyline follows a core arc, and your choices shape relationships and which parts of life in Nivalis you uncover. The end of the shady-landlord quest is a clear example: the landlord and Ava each suggest wrecking a different property, and the payouts differ a lot.
One player on the Steam forum says they finished the main story in five in-game days. Many others are 40-plus days in and still running venues; the sandbox continues after the story.
Thanks. Mind the cameras on the way home.
