Does Nivalis Nights Use AI? Voices, Art and the Ava Debate
What the Steam page says
Steam asks developers to disclose generative AI use, and shows an “AI Generated Content Disclosure” section on the store page when they do. The Nivalis Nights store page has no such section (checked October 4, 2026).
That is the official position as far as it can be checked. It does not prove a negative, but a missing disclosure on a 505 Games release is a strong signal.
Where the question came from
There are two separate things people mix up:
- Ava is an AI in the story. Your assistant, Ava, is an AI character who reads people’s body language and tone for you. So “Nivalis Nights AI” often means her.
- A voice-acting thread. On the Steam forum a player claimed Ava’s voice matched a commercial AI voice and that the credited actor had no public footprint. Other players pushed back: the credits list Caelin Forkey as Ava and Travis Harmon as Banor; one compared pitch analysis and found Ava’s voice sitting lower than the claimed match; others pointed out that new voice actors often have no public portfolio. The thread did not settle it.
The developers had not answered the thread directly as of October 4.
Is the art AI?
There is no evidence of AI-generated art. The city is built in the same hand-made voxel style as the studio’s 2020 game Cloudpunk. The developers have also explained, in their FAQ, why they moved characters from voxels to traditional meshes for animation reasons. That is a hand-made pipeline.
Japanese-language searches about AI illustration seem to come from the same Ava voice thread spreading, not from a specific image.
How much voiced dialogue is there?
All characters are voiced in English, per the FAQ. Pre-launch coverage put the cast at about 135 characters; we have not seen that number in an official post.
Bottom line
No disclosed AI use, named human voice actors in the credits, and one unresolved forum claim about one character’s voice. If the developers or Steam disclosure change, this page will say so.
Thanks. Mind the cameras on the way home.
